Paris Saint Germain (PSG) attacker Neymar has set a new record for the most assists in the history of the Brazilian national team after he provided the winning goal for Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro. Neymar played a big part for Brazil who came from behind to beat Colombia in their Group B encounter at the Copa America tournament.

The win over the Colombians ensured that the Brazilians maintained their perfect start to the Copa America tournament this summer. Brazil have won all their three games at the tournament being held on home soil and they are the overwhelming favourites to pick up another win in their final group match against Ecuador later this weekend.

PSG superstar Neymar took his assists tally for Brazil to 48 thereby setting a new record. The previous record was held by Pele who provided 47 assists during his playing career in the colours of the Selecao. Neymar has provided assists in the colours of the Brazilian national team in numerous international tournaments, the FIFA Confederations Cup inclusive.

Neymar has been in good form for Brazil at the Copa America tournament netting in each of the first two games in Group B. He scored in the 3-0 win over Venezuela in the first game of the tournament before scoring one of the goals in the 4-0 thrashing of Peru but was restricted to an assist in the comeback victory over the Colombians.

The PSG star has an excellent record for Brazil with 116 goal contributions in 107 games. He has scored 68 goals and provided 48 assists for the Selecao.

Neymar still has another Pele record in his sights. Brazilian football icon Pele held the record for most goals and most assists until the game against Colombia. Pele has 77 goals for Brazil and Neymar needs ten more goals to surpass him.
